The Daily Reporter Presents Projects of Distinction 2001

Celebrating merit shop contractors' commitment to excellence

Altmann
Tammy Altmann | ABC of WI President

It is my pleasure to present the ninth annual ABC of Wisconsin Projects of Distinction Awards Program.

I think you'll agree from seeing some of the highlights that the level of craftsmanship of ABC's merit shop contractors is truly impressive. When we began this program in 1993, our goal was to create a greater awareness of the caliber of work of our members and the merit shop construction industry. Over the past nine years, I think we have done that. This year, we award 27 different contractors for their work; however, these awards benefit all of us in the merit shop construction industry. This is because what we really are doing is shining a spotlight on our best work, and when we do this, we all benefit.

The Projects of Distinction Awards Program also raises the bar for all of us who take pride in the construction industry. And as you know, this is something we have to remain focused on, especially as we try to attract more talented young people to our industry.

The Projects of Distinction Awards Program is open to all general and subcontractor members of ABC of Wisconsin. This year's award winners were determined by an independent panel of expert judges that evaluated each project based on craftsmanship, execution/coordination, budget, scheduling, difficult and unusual challenges, owner/architect satisfaction, overall distinctiveness and, of course, safety.

Before I conclude I would like to thank The Daily Reporter and all of the advertisers in this Projects of Distinction publication. Because of your support, merit shop contractors in Wisconsin will receive the recognition they deserve.
