The AGC of Wisconsin Safety Awards program recognizes contractors for excellence in safety. Firms compete for this award by reporting the number of lost time injuries they had during 2000. Injuries are compared to the total man hours worked to develop the lost-time incident rate of injuries per 100 employees. Award winners are selected for having very low lost-time injury rates for their construction activities. To be eligible for an award, a company needs to have a lost-time incident rate, which is less than 75 percent of the national average for all construction, as compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
