The Milwaukee/National Association of the Remodeling Industry Foundation raised $10,200 through its second annual Home Improvement Rummage Sale. That money will support scholarships given to technical-school students who pursue a curriculum in the home improvement and remodeling industry.

Robert Brauer, Wauwatosa, died May 16 of undisclosed causes. Brauer, 91, served for about 30 years as the co-owner of Brookfield-based O’Brien and Brauer Construction Inc., which built a large portion of Milwaukee’s original Marquette Interchange. He also was the president of the Allied Construction Employers Association in 1960. … Thomas Schueler, Oconomowoc, died May 20 of undisclosed causes. Schueler, 72, was the president emeritus and senior consultant for VJS Construction Services Inc., Pewaukee. He joined the company as a partner in 1978.

Hoffman LLC, Appleton, earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification for the Northland Pines High School in Eagle River. It’s the first such certification, given by the U.S. Green Building Council, for a public high school in the United States. The $28.8 million high school, designed and built by Hoffman, opened for the 2006-07 school year. … Balestrieri Environmental & Development Inc., Elkhorn, is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The industrial-service company was founded in 1992 by Ken and Cindy Balestrieri, and it focuses its work on asbestos abatement, lead-paint abatement, mold remediation, hazardous-waste removal, environmental remediation, building renovations and interior demolition.
