Times keep roofers up-to-date

The roofing business always performs well, said Ronald Werowinski, director of operations for Nations Roof LLC’s 16 offices nationwide.

Werowinski, who is based in the firm’s Waukesha office, said people must protect their valuables and commercial property whether the economy is good or bad.

He said people are forced to constantly maintain their roofs.

“They don’t have much of a choice,” Werowinski said. “If their valuables are valuable enough, they have to keep them dry.”

But one area where roofers do need to work hard is keeping up with the industry’s latest trends, Werowinski said.

The most recent innovation for Nations Roof, he said, is a wire mesh spread under green roofs to detect leaks in membranes.

Werowinski said green roofs, or roofs partially or completely covered with vegetation, are gaining popularity nationwide, especially among large corporations.

He said Nations Roof is completing a Park Avenue building in New York that will have 14 different levels of green roofs.

“The thing they take into consideration is cosmetics,” Werowinski said of big corporations. “They want to show that they care about nature. They are the people that are really spending the big money.”
