Top Projects of 2007

Many qualities qualify a project to be a top project.

This year, Wisconsin Builder focused on three specific areas to select the best of the best. Projects were rated on benefit they provide to the community they are in, challenges overcome in completing them and advancement they offer to the construction industry. The American Family Children’s Hospital is an excellent example of a project that provides great benefit to the community it’s in. The hospital supplies Madison with a venue for children and their families to heal in a healthy and positive way. Several challenges were overcome while completing The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Microbial Science Building, including building on a sloped site without disturbing a nearby substation power plant. As far as providing advancement to the construction industry, the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center employed several innovative, green-building techniques that can and likely will be copied by contractors for years to come.

While these three projects were used as examples to describe certain qualities, almost every top project this year could have qualified in all three areas we assessed them on.
